Purpose of project
The energy transition brings new complexities to Australia’s electricity networks. AgenticGrid.ai is an innovative AI-powered digital platform designed to simplify energy planning and empower smarter, data-driven decisions. Building on the success of our earlier RACE for 2030 prototype, AskTheEnergySystem, AgenticGrid.ai will evolve into a fully operational intelligent digital twin of the electricity grid.
Using the Broken Hill electricity network as a practical demonstration site, AgenticGrid.ai will simulate scenarios including extreme weather events, renewable energy integration, and the adoption of Customer Energy Resources (CER) like rooftop solar, battery storage, and electric vehicles. Built on Unity, the world’s leading simulation platform, AgenticGrid.ai leverages advanced AI-driven agents to create highly realistic and dynamic scenario models. With intuitive 3D visualisations and simple, natural-language interfaces, AgenticGrid.ai makes complex grid scenarios understandable and accessible to everyone—from engineers and regulators to local communities and businesses.
AgenticGrid.ai shifts forecasting from traditional asset-based methods to a customer-centric model, significantly improving engagement, accuracy, and relevance of network planning decisions.
Impact of project
AgenticGrid.ai is set to transform how Australia plans, manages, and engages with its energy systems by:
- Engaging Communities and Stakeholders
AgenticGrid.ai brings transparency to energy decision-making, helping stakeholders understand and explore complex trade-offs. Interactive tools enhance collaboration, support community involvement, and build greater public trust. - Enhancing Grid Reliability and Resilience
Through real-world scenario simulations, AgenticGrid.ai identifies vulnerabilities and evaluates solutions to stabilise supply, reduce diesel reliance, and strengthen grid performance during extreme events. - Accelerating Network Planning
Traditional network scenario analysis often takes days or weeks; AgenticGrid.ai reduces this process to minutes. Advanced scenario modelling, predictive demand forecasting, dynamic hosting capacity, and powerful ‘what-if’ scenario planning empower network planners to make informed, timely decisions. - Maximising Renewable Integration
AgenticGrid.ai accurately simulates renewable energy variability and CER adoption at detailed levels, enabling networks to efficiently integrate distributed renewable resources, reducing energy wastage and accelerating Australia’s transition to a sustainable energy future. - Driving Economic and Regulatory Efficiency
AgenticGrid.ai directly addresses regulatory requirements, including improved consumer engagement and clear justification for investment decisions. By streamlining regulatory submissions and enhancing transparency, GridGuru can significantly reduce costs and deliver better outcomes for consumers.
