Industry PhD project title:
Data-driven planning of EV charging infrastructure in coupled distribution and transportation networks.
RACE University and Industry partners:
RMIT University
Previous education and work background:
I have a background in Electrical Engineering and currently work at the intersection of energy systems, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and infrastructure planning. My research at RMIT University focuses on data-driven planning of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, bringing together power and transportation networks, optimisation, reinforcement learning, and real-world Victorian energy and mobility data. This work explores how EV charging, BESS, distributed energy resources, and V2G flexibility can be better coordinated to support more intelligent, resilient, and sustainable energy systems.
What attracted you to the RACE Industry PhD?
The RACE Industry PhD provided an ideal opportunity to connect rigorous research with real-world energy and infrastructure challenges. I was particularly attracted by its strong industry focus and the opportunity to develop data-driven solutions that can support practical decision-making across electricity networks, electric mobility, and Australia’s energy transition.
When you were young, what did you want to be when you were older?
I was always drawn to engineering and technology, particularly the idea of solving complex problems and building systems that create practical value.
What do you hope to achieve?
I hope to translate advanced research and data-driven innovation into practical solutions that make future energy infrastructure smarter, more resilient, and more sustainable.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to seeing research in AI, electric mobility, energy systems, and grid flexibility translated into real-world infrastructure and industry outcomes.
What innovation/change would you like to see in 5-10 years’ time?
I would like to see artificial intelligence, smart grids, advanced energy systems, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and smart-city technologies seamlessly integrated through intelligent energy-management systems to create cleaner, more resilient, flexible, and efficient power and transportation networks.
Fun fact about you:
I’m drawn to hard, complex problems, especially when they span multiple disciplines, interconnected systems, and large amounts of data. The more challenging the puzzle, the more I enjoy using AI and data-driven methods to connect the pieces and solve real-world problems. Outside research, I have a strong passion for poetry and am also a professional billiards player.
