Shared visions and actions for Australia’s future grid
Right now the future grid visions of more than 40 senior and emerging Australian energy leaders are being synthesised into the Consumer Grid Summit Report.
In June, RACE for 2030 convened the inaugural Summit to pull a diverse group of decision-makers out of their daily policy and rule-change pressures and tackle the challenge of transformation gap together.
Over two days, the cohort applied the Three Horizons strategic foresight framework to explore disruptive, plausible futures, and chart practical pathways toward a clean, reliable, and equitable 2040 energy system.
The Summit was also an opportunity to integrate the world class transition thinking being generated by the Scenarios for Future Living team and other RACE-funded projects.
With participants spanning government, market bodies, networks, retail, tech, research and consumer advocacy, there was a surprising and encouraging level of alignment on how to reshape the system to secure fair outcomes for all Australians.
We are continuing to engage this deeply knowledgeable pool of industry experts as we develop the report on their findings.
The report itself will be structured around the Three Horizons framework, presenting the 2040 future visions, transition pathways, and an assessment of current system challenges and opportunities.
Through its release, we aim to maintain momentum across this growing network, and provide a clear foundation to engage policy makers, apply strategic foresight, and refine the Summit framework for future iterations.
