The project

This project will design and field-test an hierarchical edge-intelligence stack for the distribution operational technology (OT) path, with two focus areas:

(i) distributed/hierarchical learning to support distribution operation without centralising raw OT data; and

(ii) on-device anomaly detection that raises early warnings when commands or measurements deviate from learned baselines and continues operating through communications outages.

The tangible outputs are a hardware-in-the-loop testbed and an operator dashboard to provide actionable insights and recommendations for distribution grid operations. This aligns with RACE for 2030 priorities in demand management, energy productivity, digitalisation, and distribution-system readiness.
