Previous education and work background:
Master of Architecture, University of Melbourne
Before commencing my PhD, I worked for four years on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) station precinct projects, with professional experience across architecture, urban design, precinct planning, and integrated spatial analysis. This industry experience laid the foundation for my current research on sustainable and net zero precincts.
What attracted you to the RACE Industry PhD?
What attracted me most to the RACE Industry PhD was the opportunity to connect academic research with real-world practice. Working with industry partners, I can contribute to projects that have practical impact while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges governments and industry actually face. I was also drawn to the multidisciplinary nature of the program; it brings together people from urban planning, energy, finance and policy to tackle complex sustainability challenges.s
When you were young, what did you want to be when you were older?
Believe it or not, my childhood dream was to work in the anime industry. Anime was a big part of my childhood.
What do you hope to achieve?
I hope my ideas can help people make better decisions and contribute to better communities.
What are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to the conversations. Honestly, some of my best learning hasn’t come from papers, but from people in the industry who are willing to share how they actually think and solve problems.
What innovation/change would you like to see in 5-10 years’ time?
I hope we don’t just find better ways to do what we’re already doing. I hope the innovation changes how we think about what’s possible.
Fun fact about you:
Whenever I visit a new place, I always look for a local fishing spot, hoping to catch a few fish and tick another species off my list.
